Here's a bit more on the April Fools joke, and its origins.... You may need to read it bottom-to-top for it to make sense. It is primarily correspondence between Dan Streech, and Scott (whose name I'm hiding to protect him)... over this email.

Good morning Ken,

We are at sea with your boat (finally). We get frequent reports on the progress of the ship and I will forward them to you as I receive them.

I hope that the "April fool" joke wasn't too stressful! It wasn't my idea, but I signed off on it on the provision that it be so ridiculous that it would be quickly apparent that it was a joke.

Here is some of the dialog that went on behind the scenes.. BTW, if you post the joke on our web site (which would be fun), the part about the midgets should be deleted as that is definitely over the line.

Thanks,

Dan

 Good morning Scott,

I love a good joke and this one would be a whopper.. This subject is so sensitive after the long wait, that it could either be the ultimate great joke- or a disaster. I am heading off to a meeting. Let me think about this and discuss it with the guys and get back to you. I am inclined to say yes, but in this modern world of business, I have found that I have to suppress my sense of humor a little..

Laughing already,

Dan

OK Scott. The attorneys and the PC police be damned. Lets do it!

I agree with Jim. Let's make it so ridiculous that Ken's elapsed time until recognition is about 15-20 seconds..

This will be fun. Thanks for bringing a little frivolity into the picture. Life is entirely too serious these days.

Best regards,

Dan

Also, we have 7609 aboard that ship and the owner would be collateral damage from the joke..

the sad thing is, your so right. I understand completely if you don't want to do this, believe me! I didn't want to do this without you guys knowing, so we could stop it immediately. It's all up to you and your belief in how Ken would react. Thanks again, it is funny just to contemplate it.

Subject: RE: April fools joke on Ken Williams I can just imagine the opposing attorney's sarcastic biting questions at the deposition for the trial in Ken's wrongful death lawsuit (from heart attack). "So Sir, you actually thought it was funny to further upset your customer after his boat had been waiting for ship..... IS THAT A YES OR A NO SIR??!!"
